Sanderson Family,

Feliz Dia De Madre! muchicimos gracias mama por su ejemplo y apoyo :) haha so wonderful to talk to you all yesterday. Hope you enjoyed it as well. Since there really isn't much to say I want to send you this cool editorial the church news just produced about how the Lord is hastening his work. Disfriuten!

“Speed seems to be the order of the day, whether in athletics, business, communication or a host of other endeavors. The world seems gripped by a sense of urgency.

Where the gospel is concerned, calm reflection and quiet pondering act as a respite from the busy world and invite the Spirit to instruct and uplift. However, there is a gospel sense of urgency, as well, that has existed in each dispensation.

The scriptures are filled with examples of righteous people moving with haste. When Abraham saw three messengers sent from the Lord, "he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground" (Genesis 18:2). He did not meander or saunter, he ran.

When David faced the seemingly impossible task of confronting the giant Goliath, he demonstrated his faith by hurrying to the task. "David hasted and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine" (1 Samuel 17:48).

When angels visited shepherds in a field near Bethlehem and told them the Savior was born, the scripture says "And they came with haste..." (Luke 2:16). Years later, when Mary Magdalene discovered the empty tomb, she ran to tell two of the apostles about the Resurrection. They, in turn, "ran both together: and the other disciple did outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre" (John 20:4).

The Book of Mormon describes how Alma performed difficult missionary duties in the city of Ammonihah. The people there "reviled him, and spit upon him, and caused that he should be cast out of their city" (Alma 8:13). But as he left, "being weighed down with sorrow, wading through much tribulation and anguish of soul" an angel appeared to him and told him to return and preach again.

Alma then "returned speedily to the land of Ammonihah" (Alma 8:18). Again, he didn't dawdle or take time to think about it or question the assignment. He obeyed the Lord with haste.

Elder Robert B. Harbertson, who was a member of the Seventy, said of Alma's speed, "I believe he was motivated by love for the Lord and his desire to be obedient" (October 1984 general conference).

Obedience to the Lord requires immediate action. Just as the child who assures a parent he will obey "in just a minute," a disciple who hesitates can miss opportunities and delay blessings for other people.

To be sure, members of the Church are not in a race with each other to accomplish tasks. It is still true that "the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong" (Ecclesiastes 9:11).

However, where obedience, righteousness and service are concerned, everyone should make haste.”

Los amo mucho!
